Lately I've also been working on another small 30 key tented #ErgoMechKeyboad design, but with a single flexible PCB using 7mm wide swan-neck bends. The physical design is heavily inspired by https://github.com/StephanMoeller/Leonardo-KeycapRio/ and one of their more rectangular tented case ideas in particular.
I'm calling https://codeberg.org/peterjc/pico-keyboards/src/branch/main/warped30 the Wee Bit Warped (30 keys).
I define the layout in #Ergogen's YAML format (using a little Python scripting to write out the straight-line traces round the bendy bits), then run the KiCad round-traces plugin to smooth them. The work-in-progress case is again procedural CAD using #Build123d in Python, and again will take me far longer than the PCB work did.

Most likely y'all already know this absolute fantastic compendium of custom #DIY Keyboards. I just found it today and I wonder when I ever gonna get out of this rabbit hole ever again...
Perhaps it's new for others, too?https://yal-tools.github.io/ergo-keyboards/?sort=keys

Man. I have been wanting one of these #Nuphy Air75’s (actually have wanted a Field75 more) for ages now, ever once they started spamming my FB feed with their damned pretty keebs. Now might be the time. Don’t have any in my collection yet, and hey, Epipennic Anaphylacticity told me I should get more, so.. #mechanicalkeyboards #mechanicalkeyboard #mechkeys https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMYYKJFN

New click-clack: Keychron K5 100% brown switches 😍 Keycaps have a rubber finish which I didn't fully like at first but it's growing on me now.
The overall experience is vastly different from the portable¹ Keychron K2 TKL I use with my laptop. The K5 requires a lot less force to type which is good for my aging fingers :)
¹) "portable": well, it's quite thick and heavy but also sturdy because of it

She's there!
My brand new #MechanicalKeyboard, a Piantor Pro BT by #Keebart
Nice quality, super light and small compared with my (kid's) #ErgoDash
Since I promised the ErgoDash to my kid, a dad has the right for a new keeb, hasn't he? 😇(Bad quality pic, indeed: tomorrow I'll post a proper one)
[EDIT: typos...]

I'm still looking at my first personal #mechanicalKeyboard options.
What are your opinions? -

I got the itch to build another keyboard recently, and wanted to try my hand at a dactyl-style.
These flexible "pumpkin" PCBs are an incredible time saver!

Decided I need to implement keyboard layers on the laptop keyboard for times I don't have my #mechanicalkeyboard with me (or that I'm lazy to deploy it).
Bsearchin around I encountered this:

Anyone has experience with it? Anyone has other recommendations (on linux). -
Built for coders, by coders. ⚡

After a few weeks with this tiny 36-key mechanical keyboard I think I might go back to the full sized Mac keyboard 🙈

First working full assembly of my #RugbyUnion 15-a-side diode-free monobody tented #ErgoMechKeyboard, with a reversible PCB joined by 16 short wires (much fiddlier than I expected), in a case printed in Tinmorry Galaxy Green PLA, fitted with black resin Chicago Stenographer keycaps (printed by #JLCPLC who did my PCB too), and 1.5u CFX in the corners and on the thumbs (later should be 1.75u but I only have one of those to hand). Running #ZMK firmware (with #QMK and #RMK testing pending).
Design files for this #MechanicalKeyboard are here https://codeberg.org/peterjc/pico-keyboards/src/branch/main/rugbyunion with build guide and improved case design pending.

Your keyboard spends a lot of time with you.
Might as well make it a good one.
The UHK80 brings a modular design, serious customization, and the kind of typing experience that makes every other keyboard feel a little… ordinary.
Your desk called. It wants an upgrade. ✨

CW: Mechanical Keyboard rant
I'm so fucking done with looking for #MechanicalKeyboard's. I'm going to my local tech shop tomorrow and take whatever feels acceptable. Just wanted to pick one that looks okay from Cherry.
It's available with ANSI Layout. And UK. And French. But not german, anywhere.
In german shops.
Any shops, let it be Keychron, NuPhy or others either have zero Low Profile stuff or everything is always unavailable. Or it's not even a useful god damn keyboard but that 60% nonsense.

> Buys Gateron switch tester
"Damn, I like this 'Low Profile 2.0 Magnetic Jade Pro' switch"
> Looks up the switch
> Not even Gateron sells them except for in the tester
> Sells some that aren't even part of their sample tester thoughMechanical keyboards aren't fun, the market is a fucking disaster. :< Stuff is advertised that doesn't apparently exist, switches are sold for which there are no barebones to be found anywhere, sellers only know brown & red… it just sucks.

Someone recently advised me to buy another MK. This could well be it.
