Marty! Set the DeLorean for 1986! I just bought a Meade LX3 mount and re-forked my Meade 2080 LX3 OTA onto it. This rig was the hottest thing back in '86! I even have the hand controller, Dec motor and polar alignment scope / finder. I even have a Telrad mounted on this beauty! Looking forward to getting some clear skies... maybe... someday?

It fits! Pretty much.
October 20, 2025 — So how well does the Meade LXD75 6-inch achromat fit under the dome? Actually, pretty well! Shooting the sun this afternoon was (outside of seeing conditions) not bad. The scope is about four feet in length, not counting imaging and observing add-ons, and the objective end swings well inside the dome. Access to the eyepiece and camera was good. Not much room to get past the visual end, however, so we’ll see! Main thing is, it fits. Pretty much.

We recently sold two of our bicycles which presented a solution to the loss of the use of the #JMI telescope case. The bike rack works beautifully, holding the six-inch #Meade #telescope and aforementioned, now empty, case off the floor! I’ll still need to get that case relined with padding if I want to transport the Meade but… hmmmm. 🤔 Maybe sell or gift the case at this point?

* #Meade 8" SC LXD55 (UHTC coating)
* Full set of #plossl lenses
* #Autostar GEM Mount
* Philips #ToUCam and mount for #astrophotography
* "Portable" car battery to power the damn thing 🙂
