Ok, I've blocked a bunch of ips. I'm not 100% sure it was malicious, they but they were certainly spidering the site in an impolitely agressive manner!
I'm relatively sure I haven't caught anyone in the crossfire, but if you're finding you suddenly can't access mcr.wtf from somewhere, please let me know! #mcrwtf

Site seems to be a bit laggy this morning. Looks like we're getting lightly ddossed from a bunch of Chinese servers for some reason. Will see what I can do... #mcrwtf

Hey mcr.wtf people. I never know if I should publicly acknowledge donations to the server. Since it doesn't say I will on the donation page, I keep it private.
However, I will say that every donation received is hugely appreciated. It always makes me happy when I get that notification. I've had a pretty shit few weeks so it's even more appreciated right now!

It would have been less stressful if I'd remembered the firewall config I have on Digital Ocean blocks ICMP. I was sat waiting for it to become pingable with slowly growing panic!! #mcrwtf

Currently, #digitalocean (our cloud service provider) is having a bad day and suffering from intermittent outages. There's not much we can do, I'm afraid. We're monitoring and will evaluate other options for #mcrwtf if it goes on for a long time.

Hey all on #mcrwtf! Sorry about the recent outage. Looks like the LON1 region on #digitalocean, where we are hosted, disappeared for a bit.
We're back now - and this outage was very much outside of my control - but I might have a look over our backup plans and see if they're good enough.

Ok #mcrwtf! We're back on a shiny new Mastodon 4.1.3 and an expanded server with more memory and stuff...
Nerds might like to know we've also got an ipv6 address now but I've not hooked it up yet!

From 12pm Friday 7 July, mcr.wtf will be unavailable whilst I perform upgrades. This includes security fixes to ensure our safety, an upgrade to a more powerful server to increase performance and a couple of small configuration tweaks.
mcr.wtf will be unavailable whilst I do this. It should take less than half an hour.

Anyone on mcr.wtf got any feelings on the Threads thing? My plan was *not* to preemptively block them as I don't feel right preemptively blocking anyone. I'll keep a close eye though.
I'd like to remind everyone you've tools to block other users or whole instances yourselves and I encourage you to use them. I also encourage you to use the reporting tools if you see anything which contravenes our rules.
