I use a wide-ranging definition of technology, not just high technology: writing, clothing, monetary systems, hand washing with soap, etc.

As Ivan #illich Marshall #McLuhan and others have noted: we shape our tools, and our tools shape us.

We need to be aware of who's doing what, why, and--most importantly--who's benefitting. For example, the litany of misuses of technology by @pluralistic https://pluralistic.net/2025/07/30/efficiency-washing/
