Bloodroot in the backyard
bloodroot growing in my own backyard for the first time. -
Here's another photo of the same spider, seen from the ventral side. This time with prey, probably some sort of flesh fly.
Note the #stabilimentum (web decoration) in the web. Its exact purpose is not known and subject to scientific debate.

A “wasp spider” (Argiope bruennichi), spotted near #Goettingen, Germany.
I also saw an egg sac nearby, by couldn't find it again when I had my camera and tripod ready.
Photo is a stack of six frames with focus bracketing. No AI used to generate and/or alter content.
