Let us remember
In #Vienna we celebrate the Festival of Joy to remember the 8th of May 1945.
At #Heldenplatz we enjoy a concert by Wiener Symphoniker and others. But more important, we also listen to the speech of Zeitzeugin Lucy Waldstein. She was born 1930 in Vienna and need to leave her hometown 1938.

We commemorate all those who fell victim to nazifascism, all those who were persecuted and displaced.
Under nazifascism, Jews, Sinti and Roma, queer people, people with disabilities, political opponents, unionists and resistance fighters were systematically persecuted and murdered.Nazism was made possible by bystanders, silence and turning a blind eye. Remembrance is not a trivial matter, but an integral part of our fight to ensure that we recognize the injustices, oppressions and genocides of the present.
Today, racist, warmongering discourses dominates European politics. The right to asylum is effectively being shrunk to almost non-existence with the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. Repatriation laws and centers are being enacted to speed up deportations and detentions.
To remember means to fight. Today and everyday. For social justice and solidarity.

Today, May 8, 2025. On May 8, 1945, let us not forget the massacre that took place in Sétif, Guelma, and Kherrata, where over 45,000 Algerians were killed.
They took to the streets to demand a free and independent Algeria, and France did not hesitate to commit these atrocities.

People ‘freaking out’ over the low approval polling ⬇️ of #POTUS #JoeBiden need to remember that in 2016 his campaign bus RAN OUT OF GAS ⛽️ in #NewHampshire !
An old fox 🦊 is still a wily fox! 😉
The Nazis unconditionally surrendered on #May8 1945, so today’s a good day to remind everyone in America 🇺🇸 #DoNotCollaborateWithFascists !
