This is plain weird behavior from Matt Mullenweg. He apparently tries to pay someone to make a dis-track against WP Engine… and the person refused, according to Kellie Peterson, a former Automattic employee who is outspoken against Matt’s behavior when he started the drama against WP Engine

You cannot make this shit up. Matt Mullenweg tried to spend $500k+ to get kendricklamar to record a WP Engine dis track. Excellent use of investor money right there folks.

From the court ruling:

The Court, having considered WPEngine, Inc.’s (“WPE”) Administrative Motion for an Order to Shorten Time (“Motion”) as to a hearing on WPE’s Motion for a Preliminary Injunction (the “PI Motion”), Dkt. 17, and good cause appearing therefore, hereby GRANTS the Motion and ORDERS as follows:

1. Defendants’ Opposition to the PI Motion shall be filed on or before October 30, 2024;
2. Plaintiff’s Reply shall be filed on or before November 4, 2024;
3. The PI Motion is hereby set for hearing on November in Courtroom 3, 3rd Floor of the Oakland courthouse. 26 , 2024, at 10:30 a.m.

IT IS SO ORDERED.

I guess Matt is probably going to post another rant on WordPress.org saying how this is unfair and stuff, but it’s a good day for the WordPress community that Matt is trying to destroy with his pointless crusade on WP Engine.

So, Matt Mullenweg finally filed a response to the prelimary injunction sent on Friday. I find this pretty halarious.

Rather than being about access to WordPress software, this case instead is about WordPress.org – a website owned and run by Defendant Matt Mullenweg individually, for the benefit of the community he loves.

In doing so, WP Engine gambled for the sake of profit that Mr. Mullenweg would continue to maintain open access to his website for free.

So, it’s a mistake for other people who sell plugins or themes for WordPress, a mistake to build websites on WordPress as a business or even use it? After all, if you get Matt angry, he will try to ruin your livelihood.

The fact that the API calls are hard coded to wordpress.org for core/theme/plugin updates and the news widget, that spread propaganda from Matt Mullenweg against WP Engine shows that there is a promise for free access to WordPress.org, or otherwise the software doesn’t function properly.

I doubt Matt will get his way to try to block the injunction, WP Engine will probably get it granted, and Matt’s words, especially that “free speech” remark will bite him later on.

Too long, didn’t reed: Matt doesn’t care about the WordPress community and WordPress.org is his thing to play around with.

Matt is at it again, claiming that WP Engine is attacking his “free speech” in a recent blog post on his personal blog.

WP Engine has filed hundreds pages of legal documents seeking an injunction against me and Automattic. They say this about community or some nonsense, but if you look at the core, what they’re trying to do is ask a judge to curtail my First Amendment rights.

Sure, Matt can say that WP Engine is Cancer and other false claims, but defamation (Libel and Slander) against an individual or a company is not free speech. Not to mention, he changed the code of conduct in an attempt to silence Matt Mullenweg’s terrible behavior.

Pro tip: Stop digging even deeper, also resign too.
