Math question: Why is there only one way to assign a number to 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + …? This sum is always said to either diverge (with the usual definition of equality) or to equal -1/12. Under normal rules it doesn't have a value, but if you ignore that, then – pretty much independent of what you do – you always get out -1/12. Why never any other value? In what way is this genuinely the correct value for this?

CW: math question about infinite dimensional vector spaces
I love watching MATH videos on youtube
Something that I saw mentioned was the concept that an infinite sequence could be represented as a vector in an infinite dimensional vector space.
The concept didn't sit well with me. A sequence has an order for the elements. But the components of a vector don't have an order do they? Like e1 isn't "before" e2... am I missing something?

For a set of N people divided into n-sized groups, what's the minimum number of rounds for everyone to have met everyone else (been in a group with), and what is the list of groups for this? (Ideally, as diverse as possible)
Optimizing speed dating for 52 folks with 4-6 people groupings here :-D
(I know it's an NP-hard problem, but surely for these low values a solution exists?)

What are the conditions for Newton's method to converge?
Specifically: How fine a net of initial values would I need to cast to find all real zeros(in t) of`` cos(ct) - cos(d)•cos(t0-t)`` ?
c, d and t0 are real numbers.
