Jean-Pierre Jeunet – „Die fabelhafte Welt der Amélie“ (2001)Die (westliche) Welt hat diesen Film geliebt. Er war ja auch ein globales Wohlfühlversprechen: Montmartre als begehbares Diorama, Paris als innerer Zustand, Einsamkeit als verspieltes Rätsel. Doch unter all dem Zuckerguss bleibt bei mir ein Unbehagen, das sich nicht einfach wegwischen lässt. Denn Amélie mischt sich ein. Systematisch. Heimlich. Mit Methoden, die wir heute Stalking nennen würden – wären sie nur nicht so umwerfend hübsch ausgeleuchtet. Mit Audrey Tautou und Mathieu Kassovitz. (ARTE, Wh.)

Watching Kassovitz’ La Haine again. I am always impressed by the movie’s raw energy. A masterpiece that hasn’t aged a day. (With all regret, it can be said that the subject matter hasn’t aged a day either).
