A handful of songs into the new album by American Football, and wow folk, I love it so far. This is already some of my favorite songs they've done post reunion. They are adventurous, atmospheric, even more earnest than usual, middle aged. Hell yeah.

Lynn Saxberg mentions jazz influences. Definitely very Avante Garde influenced. Musical genres get very blurred anyway and they are playing at Bluesfest coming up here in Ottawa.
Micro-tonal guitar/bass with a looper and a drummer. The costumes reminded me instantly of rock costumes of yesteryear. Of course, anyone with a non-fretted instrument can do microtonal. Violin, cello, double bass...

Is Angine de Poitrine my new favourite band? Really like that the sound is "off": the guitar plays the notes between the notes, yet on the meta level it follows common, catchy patterns.
