    The only visitors who will be allowed on campus are those who are visiting patients in critical care, vulnerable young adults, psychiatry patients or those whose loved ones are receiving end of life care.

    Visitor restrictions are being put in place for public and patient safety reasons. The Mater Hospital has all safety measures in place and every effort is being made to ensure the security of the hospital.

    The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital’s number one priority is the safety of our patients and our staff. The Mater Hospital is requesting that the public do not visit the hospital at this time.

    Restrictions at the hospital will be in place from today, Friday 24th November, for 72 hours.

  5. Ireland—A #neurology specialist at the #MaterHospital has warned of an increase in the number of patients suffering severe #nervedamage after inhaling nitrous oxide gas.

    #Nitrous-oxide, often referred to as '#laughinggas', is growing in popularity as a recreational drug. Inhaling it causes a quick ‘rush’, and feelings of euphoria lasting up to 30 seconds. The gas has a number of industrial and medical uses.
