A "No Kings" protest in Memphis on March 28, 2026, ended in confrontation between demonstrators and the Memphis Police Department (MPD), resulting in multiple arrests and the use of chemical irritants. The demonstration, focusing on political opposition, saw police move to disperse marchers on Ida B. Wells Street, leading to allegations of excessive force.

"Indivisible Memphis issued a statement around 10 p.m., Monday, 'Permits are not the issue. Police violence is,' the group's statement read. 'What we saw was excessive, disproportionate, and unjustified force used against people who were peacefully protesting and posed no threat to public safety. MPD’s response was about silencing voices, intimidating communities, and discouraging people from exercising their fundamental rights.'"
