Almost 2 months on Mastodon — am I still a newbie?

Question for y’all: I’ve noticed that some peeps boost their own posts, and I’ve done it some myself, but I don’t really understand why — why do you boost your own posts, and is it necessary to boost them immediately?

OK, so the @Tusky app now supports "follow hashtag", yay! - but I still can't find where to see & edit them... am I just blind? #mastoquestion #mastonewbie

So cool to have the option of following hashtags, but... where do I see & manage the hashtags I've followed?

What does the little creepy eye in the top right corner of my posts indicate? What happens when I click it? Does that make my post not visible to a particular timeline? Or is that how you do a #CW? #mastodon #MastoTip #MastoNewbie
