We decided to just relax at the end of the trip. We picked a nice looking hotel that was pretty close to the airport and spent two days there not really doing anything. We only stayed on Mamutik Island for two nights. We had read that it was much more popular for people coming from Kota Kinabalu for the day and were worried it wouldn’t be that great. After we went to Sandakan we went back to Kota Kinabalu and took a quick boat ride to Mamutik Island, which is just a little ways off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. We went for the beach and while it couldn’t live up to our best beach trips (like the Perhentian Islands) it was the most convenient way to sneak a little beach time in to the end of the trip
