Our holiday gift to ourselves was having a habitat consultant do more work to restore our woods. Tons of invasive, harmful trees cut down to free the good trees. The donkeys and I moved a few to where they’ll get chipped. (Most moved with modern equipment!) #mastodonk #donkeys

I buy nice toys for the donkeys. They like to tear them up and play with the fragments. Yesterday it was a piece of a former fitball. They do have a shiny new puncture resistant fitball, but that’s no fun. 😄 #donkeys #mastodonk

It seems I have neglected my #asstodon duties for far too long… time to make up for it!
Here are a couple of shots of our lovely mule Esmeralda ("Esme") and our no less lovely donkey Corazon Espinado ("Nado" for short) letting off steam in the riding hall.
Both Esme and Nado were rescued from the transport to the slaughterhouse at literally the last second. That was 12 years ago. They've been leading a happy life at the sanctuary ever since.

My husband had an idea - use those plastic strips like people use for walk in coolers to help keep the cold out of the stalls. The donkeys hate being closed in, so maybe we won’t have to close the door as much. He’s put up a few strips to get them used to going through them. Will gradually add more. #mastodonk #donkeys
