TIL @videolan VLC media player main website is STILL blocked in my country.
I knew this was a thing in the past but didn't realize people still can't download VLC player 😂
I am **so very happy** I use Linux which distributes software using repos instead of fetching it from foreign domains.
I was trying to compile #Ladybird browser for fun and I ran into an error because of this.
The fix was to VPN to quickly download the necessary files and the build continued!

Delhi airport leaks, even when there is no rain.
I am sitting at Chaayos and AC vent leaks. I saw the same in few other places.
So please forgive me if I think india is nowhere near a developed country in terms of sustainable infrastructure.
If we keep going without holding the powers accountable it is all going to collapse as a grand palace of cards

Beware of the fake ‘FedEx courier’ call. It’s the latest cyber scam
Just now one of my friend got this call.
They employ Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems that convincingly simulate automated calls from FedEx and fake customs and Mumbai police officials. The callers weave a tale of a stuck consignment being thoroughly checked at the Mumbai airport customs, leading to the discovery of narcotics hidden among the items. To avoid legal troubles, they coerce their victims into paying a hefty ‘fine’ ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
This is a sophisticated operation.
Following the initial call, victims receive a Skype call from an individual dressed as a police officer. This fake officer requests sensitive information, such as the victim's Aadhaar and PAN card details. The scam takes a sinister turn as the victim is informed that multiple bank accounts are linked to their Aadhaar number and these accounts are involved in money laundering activities. This claim amplifies the sense of urgency and impending legal trouble.
Don't fall for this scam. End the call. Educate your family and friends.

In 2 generations, China has gone from poor agrarian society to the most powerful economy of the world today.
Yet,
̐• It didn't invade any country
• It didn't fire a single shotFrom Roman to British to American growths, all growth has come from colonization or conquest. China's rise has been peaceful. China's rise has been faster and greater.
China will not dominate the world, because days of superpower's dominance is over.

As every country surrounding India falls miserably (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and now Bangladesh), time to remember and thank the founding fathers of India.
They laid a strong foundation for India's democracy and shaped it to be a republic. Without them, we also would've been a failed state.
Lot of the population today celebrates those who didn't fight for freedom or democracy. They adore who didn't hoist India's flag in their campus. It is a pity they are the majority today.
I hope and pray that my country stands strong in it's founding ideals.

@TechCrunch they have a streaming app called JioCinema. This app says a lot about their business. Just provide a lot of content to users with horrible experiences. Their app is full of negative reviews on play store. Tremendous amount of ads (watched a 30 min short film with 10 advertisements)
Pay for a premium annual plan and still watch advertisements. The app doesn't even remember the movie or tv shows you left in the middle.

#Goa has witnessed a puzzling decline in the number of people surrendering their #Indian #citizenship. Between 2015 and 2019, the number of persons surrendering their Indian passports at the Goa passport office stood between 3,500-4,100.
In comparison, only 1,265 surrendered their passports in 2022.

In the space of 4 days I know of 2 adults suffering throat irritation in Pune's Winter. So, what's not the typical in this?
Both had COVID before.
One is now reporting feverish throat pain. He recommended we avoid meeting and is taking rest at home.

Besides, if you are a senior citizen as digital non-native, you struggle on several fronts. Firstly, proving life digitally. Then crossing browser hoops to register on the new site. Thirdly, if you've retired prior to 2016, you don't get to see your pension status details online as yet. #pensioners in #India are now orphaned entities.
