Well, aren't we a bunch of pessimists on #Mastodon? I ran a highly scientific poll (sarcasm) a few days ago about the final statement of the #UN #Cop28 aka #CopOut28 #Climate summit in #Dubai. 59% of the 34 respondents said Cop28 was "a complete disaster", 35% were more generous, agreeing it was "mainly a failure", and 6% were actually optimists, agreeing the summit was "a partial success". Or, just perhaps, we #Mastodonians are realists.

This reminds me of an expression in #English and its (supposed) equivalent in #German. In English, one says "hope springs eternal". Very glass-half-full. In German, one says "die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt". Hope dies last. Glass-half-empty? Or just realist?
