Happy NIS-2 Day, Österreich 💕 #nis2 #mastodonAustria #CyberSecurity #ITSecurity

I was today years old when I, for the first time in my life, opened the back of a loaded film camera.

Lessons learned:

a. DON'T be stupid
b. DO be smart
c. ✨️Clearly✨️ label your bulk-loaded film canisters so that you can actually see them through the sight window of the camera back!

Let's see how much damage a brief 1.2" exposure in dim room light does to an ISO 400 film. And how many frames were ruined. 😵

#FilmPhotography #MastodonAustria #MastodonVienna #BelieveInFilm #AnalogPhotography

This Foma 400 is incredibly thin, and it feels like hunting spectres in an old victorian mansion.

Totally a user error as well: MDC said to invert the tank every 5-10 minutes. I misread this as "invert once at the 30 minute mark" 🤪

Next steps: Maybe try to up my reading comprehension. Maybe try Foma 400 @ 6400 in Rodinal?

Silver, Light, and Stone. More from the walks among the crypts. Definitely my favourite of the trip.

Lomo Color '92 and Lomo Color '92 "Sun-kissed" suck ass. I could bump the white balance to +100 and it would still suck ass.
What a bland, grainy waste of time, energy, and C-41 soup 😩

I've been wandering around some cemeteries, tombs, and crypts, channelling my inner Freedom Of The Graveyard. So let's kick off #Spooktober and #Halloween season with this shot from Vienna's central cemetery.

Recently™, I've been experimenting with my new-ish #Wista45 SP #FieldCamera. The process of shooting #LargeFormat in #4x5 is a daunting task, slows you down to a crawl, and offers more pitfalls and ways to screw up your exposure than I'd ever imagined. Still, it is probably one of the most exciting ways to shoot film.

Some "outtakes" for followers in the reply below 👇

Recently purchased a #NikonF4, and what's the best way to test it? Take some pics of other cameras, of course.

This means that my quest to get an example of each 1-digit Nikon Fs is 50 % complete!

✅ All speeds work.
✅ Light meter works.
✅ Hot shoe and PC-sync for flash work.
✅ LCDs are clear (mostly).
✅ A fvcking joy to use.
❌ Manual focus for a cheeky self-portrait is still tricky. Oh well!

The #NikonF301 is way too nice to use in the #ShittyCameraChallenge. It's got everything you'd need from a 35mm cam.

✅ full manual controls
✅ F-mount
✅ built-in light meter + aperture priority
✅ exposure comp dial
✅ 1" to 1/2000
✅ manual rewind (won't swallow your film leader)
✅ literally screams at you when you try to be "artistic" and underexpose a scene

What's there not to like?! 🤔

During my annual raid through the family's camera and film treasures, I also rescued an #Agfa Isopan F from an Agfa Clack box camera.

The film spent the last 50+ years in that camera. 🤯 It's mottled to hell and back and there are hardly 4 images on it, all underexposed to shit. BUT I managed to get at least one somewhat interesting scan from it.

I just stumbled upon an old folder containing some of my early darkroom prints of my lovely Nora 🥰

Shot in autumn of 2017, printed in Dec. 2017 on #Ilford MG IV, #Ilfospeed RC3, and #Tetenal Vario with my #DurstLaborator1200.

I miss my old #darkroom, but if the stars align, I will rebuild it in 2025. Keep your fingers crossed for me 🤞

The perks of visiting family for Christmas: Raiding any old film camera I can get into my grubby little hands 😌
The downsides of visiting family for Christmas: raiding any old film camera I can get into my grubby little hands and all of them need some serious TLC 😵

Finally got around and fixed the new-ish #Mastodon author attribution on wetphoto as well. Admittedly, it's a bit on the heavy side of my regular ego stroking - as if anybody other than me would repost links to my gig ramblings.

My name is #MarkusWetzlmayr, hailing from #Vienna, #Austria, and with #wetphoto, I create #concertphotography and #bandphotography.

You can expect lots of #concert photos from all kinds of #Metal, #Punk, #Rock, #Hardcore, #Ska, #Reggae, etc. - anything goes, as long as there's truth in the anger, and a feeling in the sound.

Also, expect the occasional #CatContent for #Caturday - and maybe even during the week 😜
