  10. #fedihelp I am looking for a way to extract all #hashtags which I ever used in my mastodon #toots. The purpose of this task is to identify the keywords catalogue which I have grown over time. I use successfully #mastodonarchive github.com/kensanata/mastodon-, but as far as I can see, it has no such thing like a hashtag cataloging mechanism

  15. @rigo Let's start simple. I wish #mamot didn't delete all our threads with non-mamot users after 6 months! mamot.fr/@nemobis/110703144308

#MastodonArchive can help a bit for one's own relations (but only if the instance doesn't delete them too soon).

  20. I exported my Mastodon account for safe keeping and realised I have no idea how to open or convert JSON files into something minimally readable. I would love to be able to read the export, at the very least, as a list of posts. I did a quick search and found some options that required running command lines in Terminal, but I haven't used this kind of stuff in years and I am afraid I will break something. (I feel like a freakin' granma 😂) Does anyone know of a simple tool I can use for this effect? Thank you! #Mastodon #MastodonArchive

  25. CW: meta, hashtag functionality

@andrewjbtw Even more annoying for me is that the self-search for tagged posts, e.g. mamot.fr/@nemobis/tagged/copyr unconditionally excludes public replies, in addition to any unlisted posts. I need to grep my account export to find my own posts, or use something like #MastodonArchive. alexschroeder.ch/cgit/mastodon

  30. Last steps before I'm pushing the final migrating button.
I wanted to check if I downloaded my archive correctly so I just noticed it's a gz file. I have no idea what that is and I can't open it.

I found this website with instructions: windowsreport.com/unzip-gz-fil

Can anyone with more knowledge on this than me tell me if that looks like an okay thing to do? I can follow these steps just fine, I just have no clue what it is.

    #mastodonarchive #mastodon #gzfile #help
    cc @jbaert ?

  34. @kensanata yes ! I had generated HTML files and just open mstdn.fr.user.francks.statuses.0.html in Firefox. Now I'm going to try some local search engine, because it is THE why I was happy to find your #mastodonarchive 😊

It seems that bookmarks are missing or I don't see where they are 🤔 and medias from bookmarks seems to fail to download (json says: error "Too many requests"). Does GitHub (github.com/kensanata/mastodon-) is a good place for this kind of issues+support ?

Yes. Thats a concern. I'm starting a #mastodonArchive and doing a literature search to find out what the options are to help all the new #mastodonServer owners avoid expensive mistakes.

  50. CW: Cost of archiving Mastodon material

So archiving costs money. Text is pretty cheap but what is the archive policy of most servers and do toolsets exist to identify popular toots, or toots that act as nexuses for curation or ones that are heavily bookmarked as these seem like ones worth saving.

Twitter content makers have identified deletion of old material as a concern in moving.
