@dlr have you found any other apps/sites that you like on the fediverse more than Mastodon?
I can suggest a feature that may benefit you or the projects you associate with even if you are not actively using ie. Mastodon.
The feature is called "Author Tags" (introduced in Mastodon v. 4.3)
I got 2 attachments showing difference with and without...

@frozencanuck I wasn't seeing it, at least on my own posts. It was driving me a bit batty - the documentation made no mention of any special syntax for this.
I found out that it just takes a bit of extra spacing. I've generally just put extra hashtags at the end of the last line of the post. Seems you need to put an empty line before the hashtags, then you will see that nifty button formatting. -
@christianp it seems that https://mathstodon.xyz/home/ is gone in the web interface? After the upgrade to 4.3 it's forwarded to desk/... with many useless columns (on a desktop/laptop).
Any plans to fix this? Or perhaps there is another way to get what home/ was providing?

Well, Mastodon 4.3 landed on my instance and suddenly I am Old Man Yells at Stupid New CSS. It's not as if Mastodon's web interface has ever been well, comprehensible, but they've really doubled down on poor legibility and inelegance, and solved zero problems that I can detect.
And, of course, none of the most problematic new things are tweakable.

Mich verwirren die Benachrichtigungen zu Antworten in #Mastodon43. Wenn eine Antwort "öffentlich" ist, steht da "← Antwort", wenn eine ungelistet ist "@ Erwähnung". ???
Edit: Ich sehe gerade im Vergleich, "@ Erwähnung" wird es immer dann, wenn man selbst nicht an erster Stelle im Tröt steht. Wenn einem wer also in einer Diskussion mit mehreren antwortet und man steht nicht ganz vorn, wird das nur als "@ Erwähnung" gelistet.

Ich bin sehr irritiert von den 'Thread-Fäden', die sich *durch* Tröts hindurchziehen, also hinter dem Text verlaufen, statt irgendwie daneben. Soll das wirklich so?

Uff, das neue Webdesign von Mastodon 4.3. Hab mal einen Screenshot von 4.2 halbtransparent darüber gelegt. Regt mich jetzt schon hart auf, wie viel Platz durch die Einrückung im Benachrichtigungsreiter verloren geht.
Das 'Absperrband' für #CWs macht sie auch sehr unattraktiv und verengt ihre Funktion visuell auf Triggerwarnungen, die aber nur ein Teilaspekt ihrer sozialen Rolle hier sind.
Versteh ich nicht, wie man das so an der Community vorbei designen kann.

https://hear-me.social is now upgraded to Mastodon 4.3.0. I'm still kicking the tires. I hope all is working fine.
The ElasticSearch account index is still building and may need another hour to complete. The pull queue seems to be struggling to catch up after the outage. It's behind 12 minutes at this point but should clear up pretty soon.

I'm looking at the PRs for #Mastodon v4.3.0's UI design changes and I think it's a little weird how many of them have way more thumbs down than thumbs up yet were still merged... Personally though I like how most of the changes look.

Oooh, Mastodon v 4.3.0 now on techhub.social.
1. The Dark mode is a bit *too* dark, I preferred the slightly lighter background of the previous version. I've switched to the "high contrast" and it's a bit better. We'll see if I get used to it over the next few days, or feel the need for a Stylish fix up.
2. I *like* the new "you have boosted this" icon. Filling in that little square makes it very obvious (just like filling in the star for a favorite).

Noch ein Rant zu Mastodon 4.3
Das Reduzieren der Textansicht kann zwar die Benachrichtigungen kompakter machen. Aber wenn dabei nur noch die Mention übrig bleibt, ist das Crap.
Das liegt daran, dass ich ein Linebreak (manuell) hinter der Mention einfüge, weil das lesbarer ist (Fedilab macht das automatisch).
Nun kann ich aber nicht mehr sehen, worauf sich der Fav bezog. 😠

Das Gute am 4.3 Mastodon ist, dass endlich die Benachrichtigungen gruppiert werden, wie es in Fedilab schon lange ging.
Die Gruppierung ist im Web-Client sogar nun etwas besser, als bei Fedilab. Fedilab ist dafür strenger in zeitlich korrekter Reihenfolge.

Honestly, was soll das neue Layout?
Es ist nun so breit, dass viel weniger Timelines nebeneinander passen (im erweiterten Modus).
Der höhere Kontrast ist gut. Aber nun bekomme ich auf einem normalen Full HD, nicht mal bei 90 % die Postseite, 4 Timelines und die Konversations-Spalte in den Browser.
