Yikes, there is an awful lot of negativity in this 🧵, directed at the only BC political party that has any kind of presence here.
If folks are serious about helping the BC Greens make better use of the Fediverse, there's little stopping you from joining a riding association (for any party) and managing social media.
For example, the @victoriabcgreens are here and would probably love to interact. Show community organizers everywhere that Mastodon is worth their time!

I've booked almost the entirety of June off work. Planning to use some of my free time to tour Saskatoon #yxe and talk with as many politicians and organizations as I can about their social media strategies. See if I can bring em to the Fediverse in the spirit of @ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty
Planning starts the second Legislature lets out mid May.
I'd love to find collaborators to do the same in Regina #yqr Moose Jaw #ymj and Prince Albert #ypa and any other communities across the province. Hit me up!

Bouncing on this idea and had the thought, what if municipal Mastodon instances were run by your local libraries? Hardware and hosting by the provincial consortium and then local admin duties shared by staff?
To pitch it you'd probably need a fully priced out setup guide and a bit of training ready to go out the gate.

This is a step, proving there's a want for municipalities to consider open social media in their communications. Should be easy enough to repeat on a town by town basis and see if traction can translate to larger cities. Let's do this!
