watched #MastersOfTheUniverse on Prime last evening.
Lots of in jokes. Lots of throwbacks and a couple of delightful cameos.
It’s delightfully campy and a lovely homage to the original TV series and to the 80s.

I finally watched "Masters of the Universe" (2026)!
I was really skeptical if I'd like it, because I would've preferred an actual "fully in Eternia" fantasy movie without the "real-life" parts.
But as it progressed, it started to work for me.
Designs and costumes of the named characters are really nicely done, especially Man-At-Arms, Mekaneck, Beastman and Trapjaw.
It has many eastereggs and pokes fun (and provides reasons) for some He-Man things like the characters partially silly names ("You are...Fisto! You fist people!").
So, yeah. If you can accept silliness and humor in your "Masters of the Universe", and can see the movie either as independent from or a prequel to the TV show, well, I had fun and hope for a sequel.

Ähm, also.. ja 😅😶 He-Man an sich ist ja cool, aber der Film war sehr durchwachsen. Fühlte sich mehr wie eine Parodie an, als dass man es wirklich ernst nehmen hätte können. Aber Sound und Effekte waren sonst ganz gut.

Back to the #MastersOfTheUniverse movie, as I build out Grahärden for the B-Team in my #ShadowDark campaign.
At one tine, it was a subterranean goblin settlement which protected a massive chasm leading into the monstrous depths. The dwarves conquered it and built a citadel above and below.
When an isolationist wave gripped the dwarves, they retreated north ... and the humans moved in.
Needless to say, it's seen better days.

#MastersOfTheUniverse was way better than I expected! Genuine fun, self-deprecating humour, 80s style guitars (#BrianMay doing the honours), neon colours, the works. It’s like a boys’ version of Barbie. I think the marketing was completely off as it didn’t show how whacky this is. They should’ve just shown the end animation guitar thingy as the trailer. They should totally do a #SheRa next.

The missus and I watched the new Masters of the Universe movie earlier. I'm a little amazed it was already on Prime.
It was fun but yeah, I can also see why it wasn't bigger in theaters.
I don't regret seeing it, but I don't think it'll hit regular rotation.

Ce soir je me suis fait la version 1987 de Masters of the Universe. C'était quand même plus punchy que la version Amazon.
L'époque des bodybuilders super heros de péplums et films douteux. 🤪
Dolph Lundgren en gentil, c'était une révolution...
Je n'avais bien entendu pas fait attention à l'époque, mais on retrouve beaucoup d'autres films dans celui ci.
A commencer par le générique et sa musique clairement pompés sur Superman.
Des scènes qui m'ont fait penser à Flash Gordon. Un peu de Retour vers le Futur. Un final digne d'une mort d'un empereur galactique, les éclairs en moins.
Une scène post générique prouvant que Marvel n'est pas le premier à l'avoir fait.
