I liked seeing a South Indian family in US since Bollywood/ Lazy Hollywood thinks that all Indians speak Hindi, eat butter chicken daily & wear turbans. Bit odd to have them speak Tamil and the son be called Dev Shah though. Esp since Aziz's family IS Tamilian. #MasterOfNone

#MasterOfNone holds up somewhat decently even 8 years after its inception. I wish they had shown a Muslim family as Aziz's parents play his parents in the show. It would have been nice to see a Muslim depiction outside terrorist/magical shayar tropes.

Dev Shah on #MasterOfNone (2015) is still a much more sensitive, responsible cis man than any Indian cis man I know in 2023. Yes, all Indian men. Even in the post-MeToo world, cis men believe that they are owed something for a smile or even an apology.
