OK so the goose roundup was way too fun. We were able to get 41 in total. Roughly 50/50 split on already banded vs ones we banded. And two cute fluff balls, too. My @effinbirds shirt was quite popular. A+ experience. Would do again.

When we decided to name our daughter Juniper I ordered a bunch of Eastern Red Cedar (juniperus virginiana) saplings from the conservation dept for us, family and friends.

They came Wednesday just in time to share with our #masternaturalist chapter. Yesterday, we planted three on our own property and potted up a few to take with us when we move in a fewish years. #easternredcedar #juniper

Yesterday @Jillianmarisa and I took baby Juniper on her first nature walk. Down a path at one of #Missouri’s amazing wildlife conservation areas. Sadly I was deeply distracted and disheartened at all of the invasive bush honeysuckle.

In 1949 #Naturalist Aldo Leopold said: “One of the penalties of an ecological education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds. Much of the damage inflicted on land is quite invisible to laymen.”
