You do not have to be stupid or insane to believe that there is anything unusual going on above the skies of New Jersey.
But afaict, there is absolutely zero evidence to support that belief.
It's like believing God forgives you for picking your nose or that chicken nuggets are good. You probably just like believing it. And that's fine.

Unfortunately, I think the perception of #MassHysteria is it requires insane people gnashing their teeth and salivating. But it doesn't look like that. Perfectly reasonable people can be caught up in it to a greater or lesser degree. And others can just go along with it for mundane reasons eg. a news anchor just wanting to fill air time with compelling stories
