La Mary Poppins de las novelas suele destacarse por ser más misteriosa, volátil y peligrosa que su versión cinematográfica, y las aventuras en los libros son mágicas, surrealistas y, a veces, aterradoras.
La serie está siendo desarrollada y producida por Tom Winchester para Pure Fiction Television, la productora independiente respaldada por See-Saw Films, responsable de Slow Horses y Heartstopper , y la agencia de talentos británica Hamilton Hodell.
Winchester está desarrollando la serie en nombre de los fideicomisarios del patrimonio de PL Travers, de quienes ha adquirido los derechos. Se sabe que se están llevando a cabo conversaciones con #Disney y que Winchester está contactando a showrunners de alto nivel.

The NSW town of Bowral has a Mary Poppins statue which grade 6 children get to turn so that it faces the opposite direction at the vernal equinox each year. The turning celebrates their coming transition from primary school to high school.
The statue was conceived by the author herself back in the 1960s. She wanted one in New York's Central Park, but that never happened.
