  1. My feed for #MarvelsPullList and #ThisWeekInMarvel each have been dark since last year, but both just lit up with a podcast trailer. It was read by a male announcer voice I wasn't 100% sure wasn't an AI. It also clearly wasn't any other previous hosts I listened to for the last ten years.

  2. CW: Anecdote about @[email protected] being right

    @SpiritualTechie

Some of them started off as ads, too. #ThisWeekInMarvel was always walking about comics for the express purpose of getting you to go buy this week's comics. Since I already wanted to do that, I enjoyed getting the chance to listen to people talk about them.

Then Disney bought Marvel. Now, ThisWeekInMarvel was about Marvel stuff... Movies, too! Oh, and games, And other podcasts, and the new product tied into a fitness program and and and...

The spun the Comic talk off to a new podcast. (#MarvelsPullList) Then they cancelled that one. TWIM became even less like friends talking about the stuff I wanted to hear and more about pushing the latest thing they were trying that wasn't selling. It began to sound like an infomercial. I haven't gotten a new episode since last year (except one odd, special-release of an old interview) and I haven't gone looking for it.

It's kinda depressing for me, because when I started listening, they had a 'Talk back to us through a Twitter Hashtag!' back when that wasn't horrible. I created a Twitter account to do that, and from reading that hashtag I met some of my best friends, most of whom are part of #DrunkPete and #HorizonLabs, but few have moved to Mastodon.

  3. I realized that I no longer have any comics podcasts. #ThisWeekInMarvel split their #MarvelsPullList off for comics, then killed it. Way back I enjoyed a podcast called The Pull Pile Podcast, but that ended years ago. @nerdbyword will delve into the comics occasionally, and Trip Around the Multiverse will deep dive into characters sometimes, but I miss the podcast that talked about what they read THIS WEEK each week. Though for the speed I read, I think I'd prefer discussing last week's issues each week.

  4. Stephanie Williams is on #MarvelsPullList talking about her new character from Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1, but what I enjoyed was that Stephanie says she pulls Tarot for her characters. The nicest bit was Jasmiest responding by showing she knew Tarot enough to guess the card perfectly.

I think I need more of this. Not sure which part, maybe an extra podcast of Jasmiest and Stephanie talking about comics through a Tarot/astrological lens.

  5. You can tell I am slow in reading my comics when I am not done with them yet by the time #MarvelsPullList drops. Ryan and Jasmine are coming in hot!

No, really, their mics are way hot, and are fraying constantly. This needs some tweaking at the recording side. The left side, actually. Please, for my ears.

    Regardless, this week's award is:
"I am taking a break from poetry."

I could see this being said by a villain like Carnage who thinks murder and blood is 'poetry' but is incarcerated, so says this. Alternatively, someone talking to a typically peaceful, poet character who is about to instead whoop some 🍑 .

  6. #MarvelsPullList starts out with Agent M forgetting which show he was on and referring to it as TWIM.

    Welcome back, Jasmine!

Jasmine, I have NFL SuperPro #1. I would have been happy to help you out with that one!

    Award Name:
    "Time to ruin some lives!"

Sounds like it's being said by a politician starting a new legislative session.

  7. The #MarvelsPullList Award was hiding in here, too. Called it, it was Spider-Verse, even got that it would be Miles!

Also, the pun was even better than the award.

  8. This week's #MarvelsPullList has AgentM flying solo.

    The award name was:
    "We Tokyo Drifted across dimensions"

My guess would be something like Miles Morales or Sabertooth or Spider-Verse characters who dimension hops, but I bet this is someone flippantly describing a weird event by saying they must be in another universe.

  9. Yesterday, I listened to #MarvelsPullList on the road, so I wasn't here to post the award name, "Genetically Engineered Washboard Abs", but I remembered it when I read it from Doc Ock here in Deadpool #5.

  10. This week on #MarvelsPullList, they give us the Award name:

"Space don't even be dusty like that."

They also give us the a new thing for Marvel Insiders to get insider points for finding the quote. That is neat, but I am still bitter about the Insider site failing to load for me and the tech support writing it off as 'Well, that's a /you/ problem.' so I gave up on those. It's not like I have any use for the points, anyways.

  11. #MarvelsPullList wants the listeners to find the quote to try to have it sent to them by "Wednesday, Thursday, Friday..."

By Wednesday? So, if you can, find that quote before you even pick up the books that the quote is in!

(Agent M did continue on, so he obviously realizes that you need a minute to actually get the book, but I don't have my coffee yet so my cynical pre-caffeined brain heard it as 'We have a show to do, we can't wait for you to get those issues before we record next weeks!')

So, this week's #MarvelsPullList award name:

"I will eat my own guts in the name of victory"

If you're victorious, you can get better food, man!

  12. Two vampire comics, but the juicy neck hides in New Mutants: Lethal Legion.
    #MarvelsPullList

  13. Spider-Man #6...

I re-opened the issue... I think I accidentally skipped it!

...I remember reading from page 10 on, apparently I skipped the first ten pages and figured whatever I didn't understand was from last issue and I forgot, and just barely missed the quote.

    #MarvelsPullList
    This week will be:
"I have kind of a juicy neck" so we probably are talking vampires, aren't we?

  14. This week's #MarvelsPullList dropped, and I never did see last week's award name. Did I miss and issue or did I just miss the quote?

(I'll tell you after a few minutes of podcast when they announce it.)

  15. Seems like more than a week since the last #MarvelsPullList, but that's just because I'd quickly found the award name.

    This week's award:
    "It worked in Star Wars."

I am going to guess it doesn't come from one of the five Star Wars books.

Also, they're giving away some Marvel Insider points for finding it after the winner. That's awesome, but when their site quit working recently, I gave up on Insider points. I had over 2 million and all I ever used them for was a chance to be drawn into an issue, and never even won those, if I kinda figured I beat that game.

  16. Today's #MarvelsPullList dropped a bit late, but not as late as me not finding last week's quote yet.

Or wasn't, but I went back to reading while listening and just barely made it in time! (Wolverine #30)

    This week's award name:
"Make out with me for science"

Dr. Nemesis, That sounds like him, or someone talking to him. Or, I could see MODOK trying that line out.

  17. New #MarvelsPullList award from their new episode:
    "Little islands and little meats"

At least I think I heard it correctly. Meats? 🍖 🥩

  18. Last week's #MarvelsPullList Award was in Red Goblin #1. I thought the Summers but if I had looked and seen this was coming out I would have known.

That said, I was readying the recap page of the next comic before I remembered 'Waitaminute.... the award was about a grandpa!'

  19. It wasn't a person.

Way late, but I broke my server by upgrading, still trying to workout the lockups. This week's #MarvelsPullList award is: "Your grandpa is a deeply terrifying individual."

I bet it's about one of the Summers.

  20. #MarvelsPullList touts an X-Men Vote at marvel.com/characters/x-men-vo but the voting page wasn't open for this year yet.

    The award name will be:
    "Power of Jazz"

    (unless it's "Jaz" and that's a person.)

  21. I found #MarvelsPullList Spreadsheets. Figure Kitty would have a good idea of getting consent before just opting people into having all they know backed up.

(Posting it even though I know they won't join Mastodon because they need lawyers for some reason.)

  22. #MarvelsPullList confirms they don't read Mastodon, and also somehow think that they need to get their lawyers involved?

Is decentralization criminal now? That's all disappointing.

This week's award title of: "Is someone going to make a spreadsheet?"

(Which is weird because my sister showed me her 'I have a spreadsheet for that!' mug at diner on Sunday, and I actually made one for planning @Chance 's hard drives yesterday.)

  23. Last week, the #MarvelsPullList award wasn't found? I direct you to my post! (I'll email them to point them to it.)

This week, the award is "My therapist was proud of me."

I think it sounds like Deadpool.

  24. Doctor Doom would use Carnage as a cape for a holiday party. Zodiak doesn't know what he's talking about!

    #MarvelsPullList Moon Knight #19

  25. This week, the #MarvelsPullList award name is:
    "Carnage knows how to party"

Putting it in a Carnage book sounds a bit too on-the-nose. I suspect it comes from some other evil character, and since the conversation goes immediately to Avengers I could see Kid Thanos saying it.

  26. I should have guessed it was Wanda. My bad, I never thought of that as a Tiara.

    #MarvelsPullList Scarlet Witch #1
