It was written by #JeffreyCohen and #NaradaMichaelWalden and produced by the latter for Franklin's thirtieth studio album, #WhosZoominWho (1985). The song features a notable contribution from #ClarenceClemons, the saxophonist from #BruceSpringsteen’'s #EStreetBand. #Sylvester, #MarthaWash, and #JeanieTracy provided backup vocals on "Freeway of Love". Released as the album's lead single on June 5, 1985.
