  2. "At times you use force, to prevent violence. But not in the form of punishment, to make people suffer, because you have judged them as evil."

  4. You know anyone who struggles with #anger?
I recommend #MarshallRosenberg ’s book, The Surprising Purpose Of Anger from the teachings of #NonViolentCommunication by Puddle Dancer Press. It’s a short book. It’s $6.95. It’s worth 10x that.
    Find YOUR gift of anger!

    That's a great video.
Chilean economists sure look at things differently to the ones I see in my newsfeed..

Meta-analytical here: Compare Marshall's tone and demeanor with that of the comperes on just about all, Democrat or Republican, news, current affairs, political and financial shows.

Marshall gives space to begin to process what he says.

  6. "The first step in handling our anger ... is to be conscious that the stimulus of our anger is not the cause of our anger ... it isn't simply what people do that makes us angry, but it's something within us in response to that, that is really the cause of the anger."

  7. "I interrupt when they talk about the past, because we don't heal by talking about the past. We heal by talking about what's alive in us right now, stimulated by the past. But it's what's here now, and when I connect at that level they won't keep talking about it, they'll heal."

  8. "People do not make good slaves when they are connected to life. So feelings are not regarded as a positive thing to say. Feelings are associated with weakness, as being immature, as being too emotional. So not only aren't we educated to speak a language of life, a language of feelings, we have been given a cultural education that has very negative connotation to many of our emotions."

  9. "When you're in that kind of structure, never give the structure or the people in it the power to make you submit or rebel
... learn how to come from your own spirituality. How to answer for yourself 'what's the way in which I choose to live' and to learn how to sustain that and stay conscious of it, regardless of the structures you're in, and regardless of how the people in those structures speak to you."

  10. "So we suggest that in learning nonviolent communication, it's very important to keep conscious at all times that the goal of life is not to be perfect, it's to become progressively less stupid. So let's learn from our limitations, let's learn from our errors, see them as opportunities to develop ourselves ..."
