  1. Think of New Dawn as a disciple bearing witness to his prophet’s message - and emphasizing its richness.” – #Bandcamp #sunra

#MarshallAllen breaks two world records with #NewDawn

  2. @lns

This is by no means a new situation. #SunRa said exactly this fifty years ago. #CharlesIves sold insurance. The very first #musicians added at St Martins in the Field in 1420 each got only half a stipend!

They have us over a barrel. They know we cannot stop, and we crave audience. I asked a local music store clerk if sometimes they felt like crack dealers. I just got a nervous laugh. 😅

I learned from #MarshallAllen how music can have far better reasons to be than for money. YMMV.

  3. New Dawn, the debut solo album by my all-time favourite spacetravelling centenarian maestro Marshall Allen hits the interwebs appropriately enough on Valentine's Day 2025 💝

"A love letter to spacetime, it channels a century of musical intelligence into seven tracks, showing Allen at his most protean — freely moving from relaxed, transdimensional palettes to bluesy big band and beyond."

  4. Just thought I'd put out a reminder that the holiday Free-Loader days at #DimeADozen end Monday Jan 8th — a great opportunity to balance your share ratio, or so I hope, since, listening to jazz boots, and being in traffic-shaped Canada, it takes a LONG time to get their minimum ratio!

    Currently sitting on #CarlaBley Weiz 2012-04-23, #MarshallAllen 2023-11-28, #SunRa Arkestra Toronto 2023-06-28 and Slugs 1970, and #PreservationHall 2023-08-18. Just sayin'…

  5. #jazzfest stop 4: back at the opera house, 98-year-old #MarshallAllen & 16-piece #arkestra play the living music of #SunRa. potent "angels & demons at play" tonight, deep blues sung by tara middleton, & a few solo turns by bassist tyler mitchell. also, in my 25 years seeing the arkestra (!?), i've somehow never seen one of their costumes accidentally turned into a saturnian disco ball. #jazz #nyc
