#MarshallAllen joined the already established Arkestra in 1956, and at the age of 102 is still playing far beyond the reach of mechanization 😊

This is by no means a new situation. #SunRa said exactly this fifty years ago. #CharlesIves sold insurance. The very first #musicians added at St Martins in the Field in 1420 each got only half a stipend!
They have us over a barrel. They know we cannot stop, and we crave audience. I asked a local music store clerk if sometimes they felt like crack dealers. I just got a nervous laugh. 😅
I learned from #MarshallAllen how music can have far better reasons to be than for money. YMMV.
