Regarding the murder of Charlie Kirk and the consequent lowering of flags to half mast, this article highlighting the republican rep Derrick Van Orden’s response to the murders of democrats Melissa and Mark Hortman seems even more shocking.
No lowering of flags, simply Republican sarcasm and an attempt to politicise the crime.

The man w/ a list of addresses, dozens of #Democrats he wanted to kill, who shot four & #murdered two plus their dog, has still not been charged w/ #domestic #terrorism. Despite killing people due to his #political #beliefs. Despite him succeeding in changing the #majority in his state #congress to favor #Republicans.
The #President did not call the survivors, did not call the #Governor, did not attend the #funerals, he went golfing instead.

Former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their golden retriever, Gilbert, will lie in state at Minnesota's Capitol Rotunda on Friday. The three were shot in what authorities say was a politically motivated killing on June 14. A private funeral will take place on Saturday. 57-year-old Vance Boelter faces state and federal murder charges for the shootings. He will appear in court on Friday — at present he is jailed and has not entered a plea.
