Heading Off: A new technique helps track grain smuggling expansion to Libya.

Heading data contained in AIS information helped confirm the presence of the Grumant in the occupied Ukrainian port of Feodosia before it travelled to Benghazi.

This is only the second time a Russian ship has been observed delivering what the Ukrainian government describes as “stolen” grain to the country.

I've been using the #Android app #MarineTraffic for a while now. Especially with the latest update, it's turned into a #spying monster. Collecting a little #data in the free version is acceptable, but unleashing total #surveillance without any restrictions is not.

Just because I can't find a decent alternative doesn't mean there isn't one. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Einige Zeit habe ich die #Android App #MarineTraffic genutzt. Besonders mit dem letzten Update hat sie sich zu einem Spionagemonster entwickelt. In der Free-Version ein paar Daten sammeln, ist ja akzeptabel. Völlig entfesselt die Totalüberwachung zu starten, dagegen nicht.

Nur weil ich keine anständigere Alternative finden kann, heißt das nicht, dass es keine gibt. Hat da jemand vielleicht einen Tipp?

Die Preise werden steigen. Das Barrel Öl ist nun auf 71$ gestiegen. Vor dem Krieg waren es ca. 66$

Ich habe so ein smarttag Ding in Koffer und Rucksack, wenn ich Bahn fahre. Auf diese Weise kam in Smarttag im Koffer auf ein gemietetes #segelboot

Dort fiel er aus dem Koffer. Und reist nun mit dem Boot über die Ostsee.

Und ich kann den Kurs sehen (o.k., könnte ich auch mit #marinetraffic, aber das wäre nicht so lustig)

Ich muss zugeben, es verlängert meine Urlaubsgefühle, wenn ich den Kahn so durch die Wellen pflügen sehe. Wir sind ja eine Urlaubsbekanntschaft.

⛴️ I came across a popular parking spot in the middle of the #BalticSea. Over 20 cargo ships and tankers are lying at anchor. Sometimes more, sometimes less through the year (see Sentinel-1 animation). Does anyone know why they are lying there? Are they waiting for access to Tallinn’s port? Or is there a different reason?

What makes me wonder is that all of them sitting in international waters…

The #AIS data for the #Swedish warship that appears to have rushed to investigate something at the site of the NS explosions on September 22nd is no longer visible on #MarineTraffic. If you search for the #MMSI number on that date now, it now shows no data available. I won't rule out a strange bug or other weird cause, but the fact that it was still available on the 25th and then gone on the 26th, the day after this piece was published, is very odd."
