Here in the sandycruz mountains, hanging up clothes outside to dry works until the fog rolls in. Then the clothes quickly get wet again.

Ham radio net: everyone complaining about the gloom and dark and fog.
At the hardware store: overheard more than one person talking about the gloom... the checkers saying it looked like rain.
(unusually gloomy for spring for SoCal).

A beautiful, hypnotic example showing that the atmosphere is a fluid just like the ocean, as waves of marine layer air and clouds crash onshore. Weather is awesome.

Fog. Overcast cloud blanket. Delicious. After the brutal and persistant heat wave since the beginning of July, we awoke yesterday and today with the summer respite known on the West Coast of North America as “the marine layer.” It’s our blessing in the heats of summer, and its silence envelopes us with calm in the mornings.
