On a smaller scale, I collect garbage on the coast everytime I go on a photo outing by myself or with clients. We pick up stuff on our way back to my vehicle: ropes, plastic bottles, pieces of styrofoam, pipes, buoys, as much as we can carry back to my vehicle. We usually have to leave stuff behind, that's how much marine debris there is on the coast. Stuff that ''fall out'' cruise ships and fishing boats.

Brought the kids along to help local organizations cleaning up #MarineDebris #PlasticPollution along the #BurlingtonVT #LakeChamplain waterfront to celebrate #EarthDay. Unfortunately the synthetic fabric pictured here was so stuck under the riprap we had to give up. The shoreline itself was pretty clean, but the kids got about 10 gallons of trash in an hour just inland.
