A survey of 754 residents in Chile’s Valparaíso and Viña del Mar found that few spontaneously recognized artificial light as an ecological threat. Support was higher among people with stronger environmental literacy; over 60% backed dimmer lights in protected areas, motion sensors and downward-directed fixtures.
