The city of Smyrna continues to send me back and forth to different people and assume I understand what departments exist and exactly what they're all in charge of. Their rental rates are more than most private event spaces anyways if they don't want to be involved (and it sounds like they probably don't). I also got the most insane rate for a venue yet at $2000 for the 3 hours or so we'd need it! I'm going to assume that space mostly only does rich peoples weddings or something. It's looking like a Cobb contra dance isn't actually going to happen (but we'll keep trying).
Recommendations still welcome if anyone is in the Smyrna/Marietta/South Cobb area.

I'm trying to plan a social dance and there appears to be a distinct lack of event space west of #Atlanta. The city and owned stuff, is unbelievably expensive (more so than private stuff?!) and generally requires you to rent out the space for a whole day at minimum, and I can't find any other event spaces that aren't expensive wedding things (and certainly nothing suitable for dancing). It doesn't help that, realistically, I'd have to get something close enough to me that I can ride there with the bike trailer since I'd have to bring equipment and don't have a car (but I'm looking outside that radius since the chances of me finding that are very low). It's wild to me that spaces appear to be cheaper in Atlanta proper. Guess it's time to start calling dance studios, even though I hate that vibe.
Anyways, if somehow you know of any reasonable event space suitable for dancing in #Smyrna or #Marietta Georgia, let me know.
