  1. 🔥 fantastic essay alert 🔥

I re-read María Lugones' essay "Playfulness, "World"-Travelling, and Loving Perception", and boy does it hit hard.

Travelling to other people's "worlds" is a skill that marginalized people have developed by necessity, she writes. People at the margins are forced to travel to the (white, masculine) centre for their survival, whereas privileged people can rest easy in their one dominant "world".

Lugones beautifully illustrates how "World"-travelling is a necessary skill for navigating difference. It's not a dry philosophical argument but a rich and powerful essay, weaving insight with first-person experience.

"in recommending “world”-travelling and identification through “world”-travelling as part of loving other women, I am suggesting disloyalty to arrogant perceivers, including the arrogant perceiver in ourselves, and to their constructions of women."

You can find a link to the essay in my bookshelf.¹

  2. In this study, we consider the actual crisis of #publictrust in the #scientificsystem as a symptom of its lack of
#sustainability and argue that #societalimpact should be measured and understood not
exclusively in terms of the #usefulness of science to solve complex social problems, but also in
terms of its capability to display and communicate its value to #differentaudiences.
