#Cliftonville, a ward in a seaside town #Margate in #Kent has moved from Reform to the Greens. Many congratulations to the #Greens and Rob Yates. Hope this is a wake up call for #Labour. Core supporters are fed up with Labour's dog whistle & war mongering politics. I was with family in Margate over Easter and saw all the Green posters. We ran into Rob Yates and his supporters & wished him all the best. He was not confident then of winning so v happy that he defeated Reform. #UKPol

"Both artworks have been taken off the houses they were painted on — a complex, expensive operation that uses specialist equipment — so they can be sold," writes James Peak, host of Radio 4 podcast "The Banksy Story." "But while the Banksy in Margate is now on the verge of selling for well over £1m, with a sizeable chunk set to go to a domestic violence charity, and with the piece remaining in the town for the foreseeable future, the Banksy up the coast in Lowestoft languishes in a climate-controlled warehouse, costing its owners £3,000 per month."

Did Thanet District Council’s negligence lead to a fire?
According to my sources, Thanet District Council (TDC) may be liable for Monday’s fire in Taddy Gardens where a family’s dog died.
It is suspected that the cause of the fire was an electrical fault that had been reported to the landlord TDC multiple times without action. While this is yet to be officially confirmed, if true the council could face a hefty compensation bill. The family safely escaped the house and were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. As widely reported, the family’s dog was not so lucky. The outcome could have been so much worse and no doubt questions will be asked as to why TDC failed to address the reported fault.
I’ll try to report back when the cause of the fire is made official.

Historic England: "Dreamland #Cinema in Margate, completed in 1935, is an exceptional early example of the influence of German cinema design in England, showcasing multiple architectural styles. The building's tower is particularly effective and helped influence the design of future Odeon cinemas."
Closed in 2007, but used as a set for Sam Mendes "Empire of Light" - a terrific film.
And Arlington House is fog bound behind it.

Not much point in looking out to sea last week as you couldn't see anything. The famous brutalist Arlington House - designed by Russell Diplock and built in 1963 - is the background.. Every flat has a sea view.
