  1. After many months of trying to coax a municipal disaster agency in the #Philippines to share their #drone imagery available to the public, they're starting to upload some to #OpenAerialMap, making fresh imagery available for the local #OpenStreetMap community. 🎉

    Now, it's #MapaTime! 😄

  6. Do you enjoy mapping local #PublicTransport features in #OpenStreetMap?

Check out this thematic app to help make it much easier for most folks: openstop.app

The app looks very friendly, and mapping these features will probably
be interesting and relevant for many @pinoy|s even if they aren't @osm contributors yet.

I guess we have a potential theme for the next #MapaTime thing. 😆

  11. Thank you to our #WeMap #Mapatime participants last night who validated buildings in Lupang Arenda, Taytay, RIZ, to assist a barangay-based land tenureship effort.

An additional 10% of the project was validated!

If you missed it, watch it on youtu.be/XJPRwfW5pWA

  12. Last night's #WeMap session had ~37 participants not just from the #Philippines but also folks from#Australia, #Mexico and #NewZealand.

Thank you to everyone who made the session possible, especially those who contributed during #MapaTime and validated data in #Pampanga, for the local #HOTOSM #MAPampanga campaign to create better #OpenData for disaster preparedness.

Dacal pung salamat (thank you) to all participants, volunteers, and crew from the local #OSMph and other map-py friends

  13. Last month, contributors to #OpenStreetMap in the Philippines made 14,130 map changes, a 21% drop from February surge due to #Taal2020Eruption activities.

Despite that, number is above the PHL average for 2019.

The drop in contributors (still surprisingly high) and the map changes is attributable to the #covid19PH response in the country.

Tonight, 1 Apr, Wed, 19:30 (UTC +8) the local OSM community is hosting #MapaTime as #weMap for #MAPampanga. Full details here: is.gd/dox14p

  14. Interesting tool for #MapaTime mapathons: running #JOSM on flash drives (for Windows)

Available with an MIT license from: mapathon-cz.gitlab.io/josm-on-flash

A convenient way to demo the editor to power users. This way, you skip the steps for downloading and installing JOSM during the on-boarding process on your next mapathon.

Check out the project repo: gitlab.com/mapathon-cz/josm-on

  15. After last week's full house, with #MapaTime participants from as far north as Baguio, and down south as Australia, we invite you again this Wed, 1 Apr, 19:30 as #WeMap the culinary capital of the #Philippines, to support the #MAPampanga campaign of #HOTOSMphilippines

No experience is required. All you need is a computer, a mouse, a reliable internet, and the heart of a humanitarian.

The free #webinar covers the iD editor, and a mapathon thereafter.

    For details, visit: is.gd/dox14p

  16. Tonight #wemap for healthcare in the #Philippines on #OpenStreetMap , thru the #MapaGaling initiative of @[email protected] by "Pastor" @[email protected]

Telecon start at 7:30 p.m. (PST), URL is 8x8.vc/mapatime/mapagaling

Wednesdays #MapaTime is when #wemap together.

  17. No thanks to #COVID19PH, many are keen to know where nearby healthcare facilities are

We're doing #MapaGaling on 25th Mar, 7:30PM to map healthcare facilities in the #Philippines on #OpenStreetMap

YOU can help ensure that the details are correctly mapped - and fix them if they aren't.

#WeMap because we care about our communities, and we choose to act positively in these trying times.

Save Wednesdays nights for #Mapatime online, and together #wemap

  18. All smiles from #MapaTime! sa #SLUBaguio participants during #OpenDataDay celebrations in at the GIS & Simulation lab of #SaintLouisUniversity where we mapped public schools of Baguio thru #OSMaPaaralan

We are very grateful for the support and cooperation of like-minded initiatives, #OSMph , #Kaart and the local #OpenStreetMap contributors who participated.

  20. Today was the final #MapaTime session with #PUPSJCWTS volunteers, who are students taking up Accountancy and Education courses in their San Juan campus.

Thank you for your effort and contributions, especially to the #OSMaPaaralan school mapping project. We hope to see you again in future mapathons.

  21. Thank you to our #PUPSJCWTS volunteers who participated in today's #MapaTime session, who validated and mapped a total of 463 schools in #OpenStreetMap, and part of our #OSMaPaaralan project.

Typically, contributors get to add about 250 schools per month.

You may also notice that they didn't get to map anything in Palawan, only because @maningsambale finished them all last week! 😁

    Try it yourself, on #MapRoulette : maproulette.org/challenge/9413

  22. workshop is free, but slots are limited. Register now at bit.ly/BikerMapping

    The event is made possible by collaborators and friends from: #MNLmoves #ICSCph #OSMph #PUPSJ #MapaTime #Mapillary - 2/2

  23. From a convo with #PUPSJCWTS students, "Community service" for many young people, it seems, is often associated to helping sweep or clean neighborhoods.

So when told about the #MapaTime mapping sessions, many thought they were "MOPPING" sessions

They now realized there are many ways to climb a tree, and there are other ways to improve neighborhoods, and serve communities as young #humanitarians

  24. I imagine that events like this could've been an excellent way to reach out to fellow bikers who could've contributed to making a better map of Metro Manila with new features and POI: bike shops, trails, favorite routes, and other stuff not yet on the map.

I should explore how it would be possible to turn these into #MapaTime opportunities, and introduce people to #OpenStreetMap .

  25. One week into the new term and the #PUPSJCWTS students are back for #MapaTime, and contributing to mapping tasks in the #Philippines, in particular the community mapping project in Lupang Arenda, Taytay, Rizal.

The community is using vertical and horizontal imagery collected earlier by friends of #OSMph

  26. #MapaTime is active mapping on wheels, too! Watch this space for the upcoming #OpenStreetMap workshops for people on bikes.

  27. The #PUPSJCWTS contributors' group photo, after adding schools in the Philippines during #MapaTime and clearing the tasks in Siquijor and Camiguin

Thank you for lending a hand today, awesome folks!

  28. Follow-up #MapaTime activity after the #tabangAI road-mapping in Camiguin and Siquijor -- validating and updating public schools thru #OSMaPaaralan

Thank you to our awesome volunteers and supporters of #PUPSJCWTS

  29. In today's #mapatime , #PUPSJCWTS volunteers used #RapiD to contribute and validate #OpenStreetMap roads in #Siquijor province, for the local community's #tabangai effort. Thank you awesome folks!

  30. Done with another round of #MapaTime socialization with university froshies, that introduced them to basics of improving #OpenStreetMap. From #Mapillary verification, #Pic4Review validation, and OSM integration through #MapRoulette. They also learned how to use iD and #RapiD for various mapping efforts of the community in the #Philippines.

Many thanks to the continuing support of #KaartGroup, the #PUPSanJuan administration, and our hard-working #CWTS++ volunteers.

  31. The #pupsjcwts student-volunteers in today's #mapatime mapathon for #kathmandulivinglabs monsoon flooding tasks in Nepal and India. Thank you folks for your contributions to the map today.

  32. Today's #MapaTime #mapathon session with #PUPSJCWTS volunteers mapped the town of Coron on #OpenStreetMap using #OpenAerialMap imagery by local drone enthusiasts, processed with #OpenDroneMap
