On this day in 2001, al-Qaeda allegedly hijacked four planes as part of a series of attacks often referred to as the September 11 attacks, 9/11, or Manhattan Raid.
Two of those planes crashed into the World Trade Centers in New York City, one crashed into the Pentagon, and the final plane crashed in a field after passengers attempted to regain control. The final plane is suspected of being destined for the White House or Capital. -
