Another practice drawing. I used a reference for this.
Drawing faces in different angles is definitely one of my weak points. That's why I rarely use different angles in my manga. But I try my best to change that.
Even if the face looks wrong sometimes, I think varying angles can still bring the characters more to life.

Some style experiments I drew a while ago. The goal wasn’t to copy these styles perfectly, but to use them as inspiration to break out of my usual style.
What's your favorite?
I’ve realized that my style doesn’t really reflect what I actually like. Or at least, it doesn’t anymore.
For example, I draw hair the way I do because that’s just something I got used to at some point. My taste has evolved since then, but my style hasn't changed that much. It's just not on par with my taste. That’s why I want to be more intentional with the way I draw.
Of course, changing a style is a long process, but at least I’ve discovered some new possibilities / inspiration for how I could develop my style from now on.

This is a (cleaned up) panel from my storyboard. In the first version, there were more scenes with Eleanor. But because of the page-limit, I had to keep her scenes to the minimum.
I feel bad for her but with only 19 pages I really need to keep the focus on the main character Alastair.
But if I ever make a longer manga project featuring Alastair and Eleanor, I’d love to give her more scenes so that I can show more of the dynamic between them. 😊
