  1. @Jill_linuxgirl Thanks for the nice shoutout!

And @gael you got a big shoutout here, too, as creator of Mandrake!

By the way, I joined #MandrakeSoft on Aug 1, 2000, with my first task to switch #Mandrake as the first distro to CUPS, and the first #LinuxMandrake with #CUPS was 7.2, from September 2000.

Jill, but even in the dark years of LPD it detected your printer already (thanks, Gaël)!

And get well soon @MichaelTunnell !

And in both my jobs, #MandrakeSoft from 2000-2006 and #Canonical from 2006-now my job was by 80-90% managing OpenPrinting ...

  5. @popey Good old times back in 2004! I was still at #MandrakeSoft (#Mandriva) in #Paris. Mandriva had #KDE as default and #GNOME only as alternative, but still have often seen these window decorations, especially on conferences ... My last kernel compilations were only before my time at Mandrakesoft as sysadmin 1997-2000 where I had my first contact with Linux and free software (#SUSE 5.1) Printing is all-userspace, lots of poor-student-desperate-to-print created drivers for cheapo printers ...
