  1. What is this horseshit? I get leaving the Democratic party and registering as independent but fucking praising Trump all of a sudden? Manchin was a guy that wasn't great but didn't always do the wrong thing but damn he's lost his mind.

  2. The largest swing towards Republicans, among the races listed here, was in West Virginia, where Republicans performed 44.3% better than they did in 2018.

Incumbent Joe Manchin, who was elected in 2018 as a Democrat, chose not to run for reelection.

Republican Jim Justice ran for the West Virginia Senate seat in 2024, while he was the state's sitting governor.

Justice won by a margin of 41%, in a landslide victory.

  3. I wonder what #DonaldTrump offered #JoeManchin & #KyrstenSinema to screw the #Democrats over in the Senate‽

This is an under reported but major victory for #Republicans.

  4. #Senator #Manchin together with #Sinema
are the most successful and greatest support
    for #Trump and the #MAGAs.

  5. That sick son of West Virginia. May he be gagged and replaced swiftly.

Sen.Joe #Manchin, I-W.V., has announced he won’t be #endorsing Vice President Kamala #Harris for president. Unfortunately, he’s refraining from backing her for a truly unfortunate reason.
Manchin seemed to hint that he’d consider endorsing Harris, he said on Tuesday that he had decided against it because of her call for ending the #filibuster to pass federal legislation protecting #abortion rights.

  6. Hmmm - and yet we have well proven technologies to get us away from burning carbon and generating GHGs - but I guess investors are hoping to score big (and the #Manchin contingent fighting to protect their investments)

  7. #Trump can't make any porous border issue stick against Democrats because of all the Democrats who voted in favor of deporting Dreamers. But this is also a reminder to the #VoteBlueNoMatterWho crowd that Who remains nonetheless important, even after #Manchin 's exit. Surprised that Dems muzzled their pro-Palestine constituency? You also need a reminder about the still-powerful AIPAC Wasserman-Schultz faction.

In short, you guys need to get real for a change.

  8. The 8 races and 3 long shots that could determine Senate control

Republicans are all but guaranteed to pick up at least one seat,
putting even more pressure on Democrats to win seven other highly competitive races,
    including two in red states.

Senate Democrats face a grueling and narrow path to maintain their slim 51-49 majority this fall,
as they prepare to defend 23 seats across the United States,
many of them in purple and red states

With Sen. Joe #Manchin III (I-W.Va.) retiring,
Republicans are all but guaranteed to pick up at least one seat in that ruby red state,
putting even more pressure on Sens. Sherrod #Brown (D-Ohio) and Jon #Tester (D-Mont.) to defy political gravity once again in their red states and win reelection.

Only 11 Republican-held seats are up for election in November. If Republicans win those races as expected and flip just one state, the Senate will be tied 50-50 with deciding votes made by the new vice president.

If they flip two seats, Republicans will win back Senate control no matter who is in the White House.

  9. "If enacted... the #LNG portion of the #Manchin bill... would 'lock in new #greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 165 #coal fired power plants or more' and 'erase the #climate benefits of building 50 major renewable #electricity transmission lines.' It is exactly, to the letter, what #Project2025 has called for."

I am writing to ask you to oppose opposition S. 4753, the so-called "Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024" which has been called Manchin's latest dirty deal by activists and climate hawks.

This dangerous and short-sighted legislation would enact pieces of the harmful agenda of Project 2025, hurt American consumers, wreck President Biden's climate legacy, and only benefit fossil fuel companies.

  11. «These [provisions] are nearly identical policies to what's proposed in Project 2025's Mandate for Leadership,…which was spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, [and] calls for "unleashing all of America's energy resources," including…rolling back environmental permitting restrictions for new oil, gas, and coal projects, including power plants.»

  12. Had to explain this to someone, #democrats only were "in power in name only thanks to the #filibuster and even then, for only 2 years.
"In power" is a loose terms. To make any change the democrats must have A)a majority in the house of representatives B) the white house C)60 seats in the senate or enough loyal democrats to break the filibuster rule.
the dems lost A in the 2022 election. No one changed their vote, there was just a lot of gerrymandering during the once a decade redistricting from the new census data. Many were deemed unfair at the state supreme court levels and we should retake the house by a tight margin this year.
The dems never had C. #Manchin and #Sinema refused to end the filibuster so nothing could get done and the GOP refused to give on anything. There was a budget loophole Biden was able to exploit in the first 2 years that gave the environment a life raft but otherwise they were more a placeholder government til we could get a more favorable senate. The GOP gets what it wants when in power because all it has to do is break the government more or do nothing. It requires a lot more power and all the pieces in place to fix the government that to break and give more power to rich people. So dems being "in power" is misleading. Unlike in a parliament, there will be no punishments for voting against the leader of the house so its much more like herding cats. Its a very stupid system which is why literally no one else uses it.
The filibuster is an arbitrary rule created to extend debate if there was enough opposition, purely by the senate and back in the day it required to to constantly talk to keep it going, in the 70s i believe when norther dems and southern republicans were liberals and vice versa they changed it to just saying anonymously that you wanted to filibuster and they can't even hold a vote without 60 votes. It used to be 66 but that was change. Because of this, no one sees what each party would do if they were not in power, they only see that nothing ever gets done and both parties get the blame. Exactly how the GOP likes it. IF we can retake a simple majority of the senate AND no one defects, we can kill the filibuster or severely change this terms of it, and the dems can actually start being "in power" in more than name only.
  13. I'm surprised that The #NWord hasn't come out of #Manchin's mouth yet.

  14. @mcnado He's made/received enough money from coal and has a track record promoting #coal as the answer to almost any problem. Want an electric car? #Manchin knows you can power it with coal! Can't afford a house, try building with coal! Schools, try coal! Need a doctor? First try some activated charcoal! Got hungry kids, try more coal!

He deviates only when the answer is guns. Think you have enough guns? Wrong! More guns for you and some bonus coal, you know, for the kids.

  15. @Nonilex #Manchin is in the bag for the #fossilfuel industry. He left the Dems after sowing division. We don't need him and certainly don't want him. #Harris for the win!
