A big #city like #Berlin is a priori not necessarily well suited to accommodate a large #diversity of #species; #streets can be barriers to the spread of animals. The buildings are hostile to many species. And yet #urban #biodiversity in Berlin is high, thanks to extensive fallow land, thanks to the large urban #forestareas of Grunewald and Tegeler Forst and thanks to the dense network of urban #parks with species preservation #managements.

Hätte man den Unternehmer Henry #Ford gefragt, ob seine Beschäftigten Gefühle wie Leidenschaft oder Begeisterung bei ihrer Arbeit verspüren oder ob sie sich selbst als ein Team begreifen, hätte er vermutlich verständnislos mit dem Kopf geschüttelt. Mit solchen Fragen konnte er wenig anfangen. In den Fabriken Fords arbeiteten die #Beschäftigten an Fließbändern in kleinen, sich ständig wiederholenden #Arbeitsschritten. Mit welchen #Emotionen sie das taten, spielte für das #Fließband keine Rolle. Fords Antwort lautete daher klipp und klar: »Um Hand in Hand zu arbeiten, braucht man sich nicht zu lieben.«¹ Mit dieser Haltung stand er nicht allein. Sie war bei den Unternehmern seiner Zeit weit verbreitet und charakterisierte Denken und Handeln des #Managements zu dieser Zeit.

You may not be aware: But #management the social technology was invented at some point. Actually, two flavors (or shades) of management were invented at the time: One - the #Taylorist school - would become the "standard" way of organizing. The other - the #Follettian school - would be applied by a relatively small amount of organizations.

Now a shift is about to happen.
