  8. Yesterday was a good day... I had a #mammogram and a bone scan that returned normal results.

Two years ago, a mammogram revealed #breastcancer in my left breast (which has since been removed via #mastectomy).

Last year, the mammogram on my right breast showed something suspicious requiring a more intensive mammogram and then a followup mammogram 6 months later. I am relieved for the all clear on the right breast this year.

Cancer sucks big time! But today I celebrate.

  14. That #mammogram I scheduled back in May happened this morning. Yay! It went quickly and wasn't as uncomfortable as last time. I wonder if it being a different technician makes a difference. The machine seemed different, too, with a curved upper plate. Either way, done! Fingers crossed I just get the standard everything's fine letter and not the dreaded phone call.

  17. On National Mammography Day, we remind everyone of the importance of regular screenings for breast health. Early detection can save lives, and just like in surrogacy, taking proactive steps ensures a healthy future. Let’s prioritize our health—because our families depend on it.

  20. Got a #mammogram today. The technician apologized a thousand times for how uncomfortable and unnecessarily awkward the ordeal was. She said if men had to do it, it would be as soft as a pillow and there would be snacks. LOL, so true. We agreed that men don't care about making women uncomfortable. They create all machines for THEIR comfort, not ours. They think it's our lot in life to suffer. That's why they're lonely. That's why they're divorced. That's why we're happier being single. She agreed.

  27. so, been thinking all day about his de-skilling happening to oncologists using #AI:
    thelancet.com/journals/langas/

as some of y’all know, am still in the middle of surviving #breastCancer. am in the post chemo & radiation “surveillance” phase, thankful that i have a family doctor who BADGERED me into getting a #mammogram.

when i told him of the ridiculous year long waits i had missed, he picked up the phone, called one of his radiology colleagues and within a week i had my titties squished… 🧵

  32. I had a #knee #x-ray. I stood by a panel, knee bent
    #osteoarthritis

Why is a #painful vice used for a #mammogram "to keep still"? Why not just stand still?

I was much more likely to move standing on my bad knee.

#NHS: #Breastscreening is often uncomfortable and sometimes painful " Does it really need to be or is it because #women are expected to accept #pain?

    #Men can get #Breastcancer. Do they squash their #chest? I don't know.

  33. I'm grudgingly catching up on my preventative health care today, booking a Mole Map appointment and signing up for BreastScreen Aotearoa.

And if anyone else in NZ is 45 and over and wants to sign up for a free mammogram here is the link I'm sticking it here because it took me WAY too long to find it on my own.

I may have just turned 45 but I am way overdue for both because
    a) I had a melanoma at age 29 and
    b) I have a breast cancer in my family history but not immediate enough family to qualify for a funded early mammogram (was my grandma and my aunt, but they only care if it was your mum or sister).
