  2. I had a #knee #x-ray. I stood by a panel, knee bent
    #osteoarthritis

Why is a #painful vice used for a #mammogram "to keep still"? Why not just stand still?

I was much more likely to move standing on my bad knee.

#NHS: #Breastscreening is often uncomfortable and sometimes painful " Does it really need to be or is it because #women are expected to accept #pain?

    #Men can get #Breastcancer. Do they squash their #chest? I don't know.

  3. I'm grudgingly catching up on my preventative health care today, booking a Mole Map appointment and signing up for BreastScreen Aotearoa.

And if anyone else in NZ is 45 and over and wants to sign up for a free mammogram here is the link I'm sticking it here because it took me WAY too long to find it on my own.

I may have just turned 45 but I am way overdue for both because
    a) I had a melanoma at age 29 and
    b) I have a breast cancer in my family history but not immediate enough family to qualify for a funded early mammogram (was my grandma and my aunt, but they only care if it was your mum or sister).

  4. This year's #mammogram is officially done!

No, it's not fun. Yes, it can get painful.

But so much less painful than #BreastCancer.

I've helped two people get through breast cancer: my mom, who was in her mid-60s at the time...

...and my good friend M., who was in her mid-30s. She and I are the same age. Thankfully, M. is now 10 years in remission.

So, if you're in your 40s, GET YOUR #MAMMOGRAMS, Y'ALL. Just do it. It could save your life and prevent terrible grief for those who love you. ❤️

  5. #FDA #mammogram providers will be required to inform women with #Dense #BreastTissue that their #cancer #screenings may be difficult to interpret & suggest that they consult their doctors about need for additional tests. Supporters of FDA’s long-expected decision say the new standards will save lives by helping women learn about their breast density risks and potentially detect cancer earlier. Providers must implement the new regulations within 18 months, the agency said. washingtonpost.com/health/2023

  6. @DrLindseyFitzharris @TealCartoons Hi! So glad you got that #mammogram.
Older women get short shrift too...they try to screen you every other year. I went at 19 months to get a DEXA and thought wtf get the mash and flash too.
    Fortunately my tumor was small.
I had whole breast radiation. If you want to talk please feel free to ask. Stretching is important. It's been a year and I still have to do it or things start hurting. All best to you! Joan
