"There was a growing interest in #alteredstates, #healing, and #consciousness, but also a rapid absorption of these medicines into the same economies of extraction, innovation, and self-enhancement that had produced so much of the suffering people were trying to heal.

I wanted to call attention to Indigenous ethics of relating to plants, and to name the extractive and exploitative dynamics unfolding before us.
