  1. "Little Boxes" is a song written and composed by #MalvinaReynolds in 1962. The song was first released by her friend, #PeteSeeger, in 1963, and became his only charting single in January 1964. The song is a #socialSatire about the development of #suburbia and associated #conformist #middleclass attitudes. 7. I am not a big Ani DiFranco fan but I thought her style lent itself to “My Name Is Liza Kalvelage,” a song more relevant now than perhaps even when it was written. youtu.be/XIqNYxBct1c?si=4KdECj #protest #ProtestMusic #AniDiFranco #MalvinaReynolds

  12. In March I try to surf #IWD all month long and focus my #StupidAccordionTricks on kick-ass women songwriters, so here's #MalvinaReynolds' 1964 protest song #ItIsntNice, a tune whose time has come again.

  13. Malvina Reynolds was a gem of a human. A big activist, born to two activists, and a great musician to boot. Her most famous song, “Little Boxes” is fantastic. If you don’t know it by name, you’ve most likely heard it.

Anyway, here’s an live version that she performed back in 1976:
