A new-to-me product at work. An engineer sends a first draft of a doc for me to edit and wrestle into shape for publishing.
I do a first-pass dev edit and ask some clarifying questions.
The engineer responds to two of my questions in ways that REALLY doesn't clarify anything. So I respond to the first one with a suggested edit that I'm pretty sure is not what they meant...just so that they'll actually be forced to clarify things further so that I can rewrite those phrases so that they're both concise, but also very clear. #MaliciousCompliance -

People have been half-assing compliance for as long as compliance has been a thing. Do some research, talk to a lawyer, and then build only the half of the ass necessary to keep lawsuits off your back.
