OMG it is back!!!
In the meantime I sold the microscope and cannot test for Malassezia anymore, yet the same symptoms are present, incl. a feeling of greasiness when stroking his fur.
At the time the original prescription was a year old and thus invalid. So I went to my GP and told him about a fictional fungus that I said I had ... and which medication had helped before.
Last time it took 3 weeks to clear.

Otherwise healthy, and well cared for, Forest has a problem - these bunches of hair 'stick out' and I can then just pull them off 😭
