Finally watched Your Name on a TV with decent sound. I still can't believe how beautiful that movie is. The level of detail in every scene, the backgrounds, the ambient sounds, the saturated yet believable colors (especially in the scenes on the mountain) and of course all the music.
I feel like you can pause the movie 99% of the time and have a beautiful computer wallpaper.

The soundtrack of "Weathering with You" might not be my favorite movie soundtrack out there, but I still absolutely love it. I wouldn't be surprised if I listened to the entire album over 50 times.
I don't know how they do it, but #RADWIMPS just can't seem to produce bad soundstacks.

Hi everyone, time for an #introduction …and a story.
This is my new Mastodon account. I’m planning to use it as a more personal account / random texts and scribbly drawings - while my other account for posting my comics/cartoons/watercolours/illustrations is over on sakurajima.social(linked below as I moved over there from the main FF instance recently. I find FF a bit nicer to use than Mastodon, but want to have a mastodon account also and had a nice experience moving to the other sakurajima)
I’ve been drawing comics for over 20 years.
I’m old-ish(40s), Canadian, and have a very awesome young kid and wife. We have family in Japan, so have traveled there a LOT over the years, and I love it there. I’m still learning Japanese, and not nearly as good as I want to be with it.Like: stand-up comedy, punk rock, comics, Japan.

[EN] I got back from Japan yesterday, so here are the things I just had to get. As a huge fan of Shinkai Makoto’s, I had no other choice but to buy the artbook and the OST for “Suzume”, as well as the official novelizations of “The Garden of Words”, “Weathering with You” and “Suzume”. I also got “Kimitachi wa dō ikiru ka” — the novel which inspired Miyazaki Hayao to make his latest film (titled after the book) — and “Uzumaki” by Itō Junji, because the Polish translation has gone out of sale and is extremely hard to find in an acceptable price. Except for the artbook and the manga, all these things come from a chain of second-hand shops 👌🏻

Wczoraj wróciłem z japońskiego urlopu, więc dzielę się moimi fanowskimi zdobyczami. Jako psychofan Shinkaia Makoto oczywiście musiałem zaopatrzyć się w artbook i płytę ze ścieżką dźwiękową z „Suzume” oraz w powieściowe adaptacje „Ogrodu słów”, „Tenki no ko” i „Suzume”. Do tego „Kimitachi wa dō ikiru ka”, czyli powieść, która zainspirowała Miyazakiego podczas tworzenia ostatniego filmu (pod tym samym tytułem) i manga „Uzumaki”, bo znaleźć ją w ludzkiej cenie w Polsce graniczy z cudem. Wszystko poza artbookiem i mangą znalezione w sklepach z książkami i płytami z second-handu 👌🏻

#pretty again, has a nice #fantasy vibe and a #longhaired #PrettyBoy sidekick. Story kinda drags after the first third.But also! So far there's no cringy boob-nonsense #fanservice, no unconsensual groping or other disgusting shite that made it impossible to recommend lots of his stuff before! So good on you, dude, *super* low bar to cross but you did it (so far).

jako fan chińskich bajek nie mogłem ominąć wczorajszej premiery Suzume w Polskich kinach.
to co mnie zaskoczyło już od pierwszych chwil była animacja. najwyższa półka, totalnie 10/10. tła oraz związane z nimi widoczni zachwycały bez przerwy przez cały film, a paleta barw użyta przy postaciach świetnie kontrastowała z tłami tworząc super widowisko. bardzo się cieszę, że mogłem zobaczyć to na dużym ekranie.
fabuła napisana świetnie. bardzo ciekawy motyw z drzwiami, podobnie jak w Kimi no Nawa również tego samego autora mamy zjawiska nadnaturalne. relacje między postaciami jak i same postacie moim zdaniem zostały napisane świetnie, czuć głębię i jest to po prostu super.
zdecydowanie warto, jeśli macie możliwość koniecznie idźcie. film będzie przystępny również dla osób które nie są into anime, ponieważ nie ma tylu udziwnień i tego japońskiego humoru czy darcia mordy.
Makoto Shinkai kolejny raz pokazał, że umie stworzyć wybitne dzieło.
